We have had Tooth & Nail Builders complete two amazing projects for us this past year. Jake, Heath & Dave are so easy to work with and all of their hard work produces truly amazing things! Our first project was to install a kitchen backsplash, convert a cabinet into a pullout trash/recycling unit, and to update the wood around our island. These seemingly little projects really made a world of difference in the look and function of our kitchen. Their awesome communication, attention to detail, and the amazing daily prep & clean up really made a project in the hub of our house very easy on this family of 6. Our kitchen experience in the late fall/early winter made us beyond excited for our porch and deck project that would start in the spring. Well, the wait was so worth it. We absolutely love our new screened-in porch and deck. We are using our outside space daily and can’t wait for the years to come in these amazing new spaces. I am in fact writing this review as I sit in the porch on an 100 degree day and it is amazingly comfortable. Again, their communication, attention to detail, and high standard of quality on our porch/deck project were wonderful. They helped us with the design of our porch & deck and supplied other suggestions as they have so much experience with our type of project and the needs of our neighborhood/association.

Showing up as planned and on time, taking care to cover the kitchen in plastic each trip and your attention to detail. The project took the amount of time you said it would and came in on budget. We both thought it was really great how you cleaned up after yourself each day and covered the work area so that we could have a clean and functioning kitchen as we awaited the project completion. You were very patient as I had different ideas and also after I noticed some flawed tiles in the mosaic and were kind enough to remove them and replace with better tiles. Tooth & Nail Builders recently completed a bathroom remodel for us. The team worked with us to save the original wood cabinetry and trim, while installing a new floor, tile and tub. I have used Jake and his crew at Tooth & Nail Builders 3 separate times. Each time the work in our loft has looked spectacular! We have had walls put in, a barn door, a Spanish tile and brick kitchen back splash and even a cat door in the shape of a cat for our living room closet area for the litter box entrance. They also built a custom bar with a beautiful walnut top for our kitchen. The planning and out-of-box thinking has given us a home with many unique features that only our home has in our historic building in NE Mpls. The communication was excellent. I would suggest planning ahead in getting an estimate, as they are very popular and hence in high demand. Each time I've had them, it's been well worth the wait and I can't imagine you'd be disappointed! Will definitely use again if we have anything we need done.

I am writing this letter to give my highest recommendation for Tooth & Nail Builders of Minnesota, and specifically to the men behind the company, Jake Novak and Heath Walker. I am one of the most demanding, picky, detail-oriented people I know, so my highest recommendation does not come easy. In fact, I often find myself disappointed in the lack of pride people take in their work these days, but that was definitely not the case with Tooth & Nail, as they exceeded my expectations.

My family and I live in the Glendalough neighborhood of Rosemount, MN. I heard about Tooth & Nail in 2014 when I began researching our deck/porch project. Several other Glendalough homeowners had hired Tooth & Nail and were very satisfied with their work and their affordability. I inspected some of those projects and agreed the work was of high quality. I included Tooth & Nail in the bidding process with two other companies and chose them for their combination of great work, personable service and affordability. Jake Novak represented the company at all of the pre-work meetings and was very professional and attentive to our needs. I had dozens of questions and he was patient with me throughout the entire process. Our deck/porch project was fairly elaborate and was going to be the second highest purchase of my life behind actual homes so I wanted everything to be perfect.

The crew began working on our project in May 2015, right on time as they promised. The project consists of a 440 square foot deck with part of it extending beyond the edge of our house and half of it covered by a roof. The deck has 7 footings and stairs. A variety of materials was used including two colors of Trex Transcends decking, aluminum railings, MiraTec posts and arches, PVC posts, a cedar tongue & groove porch ceiling, Infratech infrared ceiling-mounted heaters, a ceiling fan, recessed lights, outdoor Bluetooth speakers, and electrical outlets. They explained how everything would progress and met with us each day to make sure there were no surprises. My wife and I know very little about building projects and again, Jake and Heath were very patient and always willing to pause and answer our questions. There were a few occasions as the deck and porch took shape where we decided other material options might look better than our original plan, such as changing the color of the Trex drink rail and steps and changing the type of fan/light switch we had. We also had to increase the number of deck footings. Jake and Heath never skipped a beat with any change we made and made sure we were happy with everything along the way.

Despite a few rainy days, Jake and Heath finished the entire project in less than three weeks, just the two of them and their electrician. I painted the material that required painting and the end result of everyone's work is truly a thing of beauty. After throwing in some beautiful furniture, a grill, a fire table, and some personal touches we could not be more pleased. We have thoroughly enjoyed our new deck for two months now and expect to enjoy it for years to come. We can't thank Jake and Heath enough for helping make our dream project come true! Anyone considering a residential building or remodeling project should definitely partner with Tooth & Nail Builders!"

Tooth and Nail Builders has completed 3 projects for us in the last year. Jake has communicated start dates and work schedules in a timely and clear fashion. He and Heath are conscientious about doing a job correctly from beginning to end. Our standards are very high. In fact, their first job at our house was to redo window and door trim installed by another carpenter. Their work, and work ethic, exceed our expectations. Jake, Dave, & Heath built a no maintenance deck for us and helped with some outside wall repair due to water damage and we are thrilled about our new deck. I am pleased to write this letter of referral for Jake Novak, owner of Tooth and Nail Builders, who very recently completed work in my bathroom, including a beautiful tiling installation. I feel lucky to have had him referred to me. When Jake first arrived to develop his bid, he impressed me by arriving punctually and presenting himself professionally. He listened carefully and heard my concerns. After inspecting the bathroom and the improper installation of a window in the shower/tub area, Jake instilled confidence by his clear explanation of the range of work that may need to be done.

His work is thorough and careful. As an example, because of the water seepage into the wall beneath the glass block window, Jake removed the surrounding plaster to inspect soundness of the existing wall framing and the framing of the window. As the studs were sound, he treated the studs for mildew and ensured they were dry before insulating and protecting that new insulation with the first layer of waterproofing. He then beautifully installed subway tile with borders including numerous corners. The tile border above the window is particularly stunning! Jake exhibited a great deal of patience in the tile work and the planning of it. He carefully measured to determine how my several ideas would lay out according to other desires I expressed, such as maximizing full tiles and bringing the tiles to a certain height. In other words, he was patient with me as well. Jake is very client-oriented, delivered quality craftsmanship, accepted an expanded scope of work with grace, arrived each day when he said he would, worked with focus throughout the day, cleaned up the work area and consolidated his tools every evening. Jake is a pleasure to work with on every level. I appreciate Jake's work and work style so much, that we were already planning the next project when he left. I look forward to more of his fine work in my home!"

He has put in new windows, laid tile in our bathrooms, worked on our deck, repaired my daughter's tree house, built a closet and put new siding on our house. They all look fantastic! We had Jake and his crew build a stone fireplace wall for our living room and we couldn't be happier with the finished product! They took an ordinary wall and made it extraordinary! Jake always took the time to answer any questions that we had and made sure the project went smoothly. He was on top of things the entire time, very courteous and very punctual on getting back to us with any of our questions.
